New Patients

What to expect on your first visit to our practice

New patients to our clinic will need to undergo an initial consultation.

Initial consultation

Duration of visit: approximately 30 minutes.

On arrival

A receptionist will ask you to complete a pre-consultation health history questionnaire to enable your chiropractor to evaluate your current and previous health status.

Consultation

After completing the health history questionnaire you will be shown to one of the consultation rooms. Your chiropractor will then discuss areas of concern with you and may ask questions that focus on issues raised in your pre-consultation history.

Examination

Your chiropractor will perform a series of tests and examinations to determine the cause of your problems, and whether your problems will benefit from chiropractic care. Your chiropractor may need some time to correlate all the findings before any treatment and recommendations for care are given.

Chiropractic provides patient centred care, which involves shared decision making through informed consent. We take account of your preferences and values, along with our clinical understanding and experience to provide you with treatment options that will maximise the benefits. This includes referral to other healthcare providers when indicated to ensure best and most appropriate treatment and health outcomes.

Radiological examination (X-rays) could be one such referral. This may be recommended to assist in determining whether your spine is structurally sound, or whether there is any pathology (disease process) present that may affect or hinder your response to chiropractic care. It may also identify any variation in your individual anatomy of the joints and skeletal structure that will assist your chiropractor in providing you with the most appropriate care.

Report of findings

Duration of visit

The report of findings is approximately 30 minutes in duration and will occur on your second or third visit, depending on whether imaging has been requested.

On arrival

The attending Chiropractor will provide an assessment of your condition and recommend an appropriate treatment schedule. Your report will include an explanation of your physical and X-ray findings (if applicable), recommendations and suggestions to assist with your care, alternative treatment options and outcomes expected from your treatment plan.

We believe it is our responsibility to educate our patients on spinal care and information will be provided in the interests of ensuring you have the best chance of recovery and improved general health. Ongoing benefits of regular chiropractic care will be discussed allowing you to make some valued decisions about your future health care.

Subsequent visits

Duration

Subsequent visits vary from 10 minutes to 30 minutes depending on your individual needs at the time.
